His dad co-signed on the agreement and lent him another $70,000 to get him started, and Josh began to spend every waking minute working to make his new business a success.Ī 16-year-old Josh Parker promoting his products in 2014 Josh prepared a business plan and convinced a bank to lend him the money to buy the equipment he needed. Josh, from Canton, New York was fascinated by the idea that he could make his own maple syrup using just the trees in his own backyard, and it wasn’t long before he was doing exactly that.Īfter a few years making progressively larger batches of his own maple syrup, Josh finally decided to start his own business making that sweet silky syrup, and he was still only 15 years old. The idea for Parker’s Maple came back in 2009 when 11-year-old Joshua Parker went on a school field trip to Northern New York state to learn how Maple syrup was made, and it’s no understatement to say that the trip was quite inspirational for him.

We enjoy working as a family and with our friends to share the amazing process of making the maple tree’s sap into syrup. Through many years of hard work and grit, the operation has now grown to include nearly 1,000 acres of land, a 90,000 tap maple operation (one of the largest in the U.S.), producing over 40,000 gallons of maple syrup per year! The Parker farm also now features a CDL maple equipment dealership, farm gift shop and restaurant pavilion as well as the 5th generation of Parkers, Joshua, Samantha and Keith!

Over the course of Earl’s lifetime the farm has seen many changes, from quadrupling the number of maple taps and moving the sugar shack from down in the woods to up by the road and making the difficult decision not to continue milking cows, it has not always been easy. The farm is now run by Adolphus & Amelia's great-grandson, Michael Parker with supervision from his father, Earl Parker. Five years later, in 1889, they purchased an adjoining 60 acres and started a dairy farm and maple sugaring operation. In 1884, Adolphus & Amelia Parker bought an acre of land and established their homestead in the Lake Champlain Valley near the Canadian Border in West Chazy, NY.
